A ‘musical’ feast at the nursing home
A trio consisting of İlayda Erten, Ada Bayındır, and Öykü Karasu, musician students from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Chamber Orchestra, gave a special concert for the elderly at the nursing home, kicking off the New Year celebrations early. The young musicians prepared a special repertoire of 16 pieces for the residents of Narlıdere Nursing Home, offering a musical feast. They created a vibrant program ranging from Western classical music to Turkish music, receiving great admiration for their performance. The nursing home residents accompanied the young musicians from Izmir University of Economics with applause, enjoying a day filled with joy.
“CONCERTS WILL CONTINUE”
IUE Art Coordinator Sinemis Eser Akaoğlu emphasized the importance of social responsibility projects and announced that the nursing home concerts will continue monthly. Akaoğlu said, “We prepared a new repertoire for the elderly at the nursing home and gave our first concert at Narlıdere Nursing Home shortly before the New Year. Bringing together young people and seniors is very meaningful. We were very happy and warmly welcomed. Seeing that seniors were happy and enjoyed themselves delighted us. At the request of young musicians, the concerts will continue at different nursing homes with different student musicians. Young people will build bridges between generations through art.”
