‘Career summit’ at IUE
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), which places great importance on its graduates’ and students’ strong communication with the business world, organized a three-day Career Fair. The fair, featuring 75 companies from various sectors such as technology, finance, textiles, automotive, aviation, health, logistics, and tourism, provided an opportunity for young individuals from IUE to meet the brands they aspire to work for or intern with in the future. Taking the first step towards new career opportunities, IUE students had the chance to ask questions and benefit from the experiences of professionals in the business world. Approximately 8,000 students attended the fair, exclusively held on the campus for IUE members.
COMPANIES WERE ALSO PLEASED
Stating that the fair was highly productive for both the young participants and the companies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evrim Üstünlüoğlu, IUE Dean of Students said, “We have great confidence in our students and graduates, knowing that they possess the qualities demanded by the business world. IUE students, who receive training from experienced professionals in the industry, are proficient in English, have effective communication skills, and exhibit a project-oriented perspective, meet the qualified workforce needs of companies. In this regard, the Career Fair has been a significant gain for both young individuals and companies. We received numerous positive feedback from the companies, and we were pleased to witness that many of our students were invited for job interviews.”
REALISTIC SIMULATIONS
Mentioning that they conducted interview simulations during the fair to allow young individuals to experience a real job interview and minimize the excitement and stress they might face, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Üstünlüoğlu said, “The interview simulation is crucial for reducing the excitement and stress young people may experience during a job interview. We included the interview simulation in the fair taking into consideration the wishes of students. They experienced what a real interview is like by having one-on-one interviews. IUE Career Guidance Center and Career Club, actively involved by students within the University, successfully collaborated to ensure the success of this fair. I congratulate everyone in the team for their dedicated and disciplined work. We will continue to meet with graduates and students in the upcoming period. We will develop new projects to enhance young individuals’ personal competencies and help them start ahead in the business world.”
